There are many kids who stay indoors playing the Wii, X-box or other similar gaming products. Getting our kids to play games outside for fun and good times is not so easy when the game factor has increased thanks to so many gaming technologies and the internet. However, treasure hunts happen to still be a fun and inexpensive way to get our kids outside to enjoy them.

Doing a Pirate Treasure Hunt is fun for both boys and girls. Have each child dress up in clothes appropriate for their gender (a boy can be a pirate, scurvy, a sailor and a captain of the boat, a girl can be the kidnapped queen or princess, a female sailor and second in charge of the captain). Buy trinkets that are associated with pirates as the prizes for each child, a favor bag full of candies, or get each child a pirate sword at the end of the treasure hunt when all the clues have been done. Bury each clue under rocks or near trees leading to the next set of clues, before the children gather together. Have pen and paper handy to write down the answers to the clues in order to be accepted at the end of the treasure hunt for the final prize. Another idea is to do the treasure hunt at night time with flash lights.  This is even more fun than during the day time because it adds to the reality of the pirates theme.
