In addition to hunting for Easter eggs, you can plan all kinds of other activities this Easter for your children to enjoy. Planning different activities to do together as a family is a great way to bring everyone together, especially during the holiday.

Kids love being in the kitchen with you. Planning a few simple recipes you can do together is sure to be a big hit.

  • Standard Sugar Cookies -use different Easter themed cookie cutters to cut out shapes, and decorate them with icing and sprinkles. Kids love painting the icing on with clean, small paintbrushes!
  • Bunny cake- Using two layers of a round cake, use one for the head, and another to cut out ears and a bowtie, then frost and decorate with things like coconut for fur, jellybeans for eyes and nose, and string licorice for the whiskers. Dye coconut to make the inside of the ears pink and dye extra coconut green to use as grass around the whole cake.

Other ideas include:

  • Have the kids decorate their own Easter basket which gives them the chance to have a personalized basket for all their goodies.
  • You can find all sorts of puzzles, riddles, and games that are printable on the internet (one really popular one right here-see the testimonials). You can even find themed coloring pages for the younger children (or the young at heart)!
  • Have the kids make cards for each other from scratch.

These are just a few ideas, but there are many more out there that are great for family fun. You are sure to find ones that everyone will really enjoy and remember as you spend the holiday together.

Church Easter egg hunts can be an extremely rewarding experience for both children and parents.  A church Easter egg hunt allows all the children of a congregation to bond together.  Not only will the children develop bonds among themselves, but they will have time to bond with parents and church members as well.

The older children of the congregation can be employed to do the hiding of the eggs.  You will be amazed at some of the creative places they can come up with to hide Easter eggs.  It is a good idea to have a few parents supervise the egg hiding so that it does not become too complicated for younger children to find the eggs.

Both the church building and church grounds are great places to conduct a church Easter egg hunt.  The activity can be used to help familiarize the children with both building and grounds.  Having the children move back and forth between building and grounds to find all the Easter eggs provides them good variety and should help hold their interest.

Church Easter egg hunts are a great time to allow time for interaction between elderly member of the church and the young children.  It is fun to see what enjoyment the elderly have in assisting a child to find as many of those coveted eggs as possible.  The children will be glad that they are being helped and the elderly can enjoy the rush of feeling so appreciated.

It is good to diagram out all the hiding places that will be used in a church Easter egg hunt.  Think about creating patterns and paths to finding the eggs.  Go online and look to see what ideas are available.  You can find some interesting suggestions as to the best way to hide the eggs.

For people who are not just that familiar with this interesting game, well here is a short description about Treasure hunt. A scavenger hunt is known to be one of the most popular party games which are quite famous among kids. Below given are some of the basic things to get started with treasure hunt.

First of all group the kids into separate teams. Divide the kids into teams. Since it is Easter scavenger Hunt you can just have them select an “Easter Theme” name for their team. Some of the theme names include Bunny Hoppers, The Chicks, Colored Eggs, The Baskets and The Candy men. Next comes the choosing of right place to conduct the event. Select the perfect Area for The Hunt to Take Place. You will want to select boundaries and keep the area limited.  Use caution tape to create the boundaries within the desired limits.  Hide the items within the boundaries.  Make sure the lighting is adequate enough for visibility. You can use either indoors or outdoors. Bags are needed essentially for easy navigation and to keep the things in a properly organized manner. Decorated bags should be given to each child. Choose funny prizes and make it even funnier. Select separate prizes for each team. That can be Even if it is just a certificate of accomplishment.
You can prepare a Starter List of Scavenger Hunt Ideas with some of the following clues given below:

Can you hop like me? It means a bunny.

If it’s Sweet and sugary, loved by all, makes Easter fun then the answer is Candy.

Mr. Rabbit’s favorite food is Carrot.

I am sweet, squishy and kids love to eat me- Marshmallow bunny or Egg.

I hold lots of goodies at Easter-Basket.

You can also prepare a jar in advance and ask them the number of jelly beans in the jar.

Make 50 “riddle” eggs and hide them all over a large field or playground.  Create an answer sheet (in alphabetical order by the first letter in the riddle) and distribute to any helpers.
Divide the group into teams of 3 or 4 children.  They will work as a team to solve the riddles.  Give each team a pencil and paper to write down their answers.  Also, each team gets two “hint vouchers” which they could use in exchange for a hint to help them solve the riddle. When they want to use a hint voucher, they just have to go to one of the helpers with the answer key. Use them wisely for each team only receives two hints.
Have a time limit.  At the end, the team with the most correctly solved riddles wins, although you could give everyone a prize for participating.

Make a riddle hunt with 9 or 10 clues using Riddle Me. Print out the list of scriptures listed below and cut into separate strips. Put your clues, scripture references, and a piece of candy inside some hollow, plastic eggs. Important: The scripture references must go in order.   On the final clue, don’t put a piece of candy inside the egg. It should remain “empty” to symbolize the empty tomb.   (You may choose to add a 10th clue to have them find the last egg  and an Easter treat surprise.)

Easter Service Project Scavenger Hunt Idea

Print a list of service project items from the Riddle Me Scavenger Hunt feature.  Insert each one into a plastic, hollow egg.  Hide the eggs around the area.  As they find each egg, they should go perform the service for someone in your home.
With adult supervision, this could be done in a youth group within your neighborhood or among people you know. (Never let children go door to door unsupervised).

Make a riddle treasure hunt using Riddle Me.

Choose a cookie recipe and print a list of ingredients. Cut the page to separate the list into 1 or 2 ingredients per slip of paper. Put your clues and ingredient slips in some hollow, plastic eggs and hide them in the locations you have selected.

As the hunters find each egg and pull out the clue and ingredient, have them go to the kitchen and put that ingredient into the mix. Then go to the next clue to find the next ingredient.

When you’re all done, you can mix and bake the cookies. Then you could take them to a neighbor, to someone elderly that you know or someone in need.
